FAQs

Questions?
We have answers.

Standard Orders

Are you open for walk-in traffic?

Yes! We have a fully stocked bakery case on all days that we are open. However, if you would like to guarantee a particular treat we recommend you place your order a few days in advance.

Cakes, cookie cakes, whole gooey butter cakes, and pie dough are all made to order, so you MUST order those items in advance. We also highly recommend ordering cupcakes and bread in advance as there are days when they simply fly off the shelves.

You can place your order online by clicking here.

How can I place an advanced order?

You can place your order online by clicking here.

Cakes require a MINIMUM of four days notice, but we book up quickly, so we recommend you book ASAP.

Other items require a minimum of two days notice, but will also book up, so we recommend ordering well in advance.

Do you have gift cards?

Yes! They are available in person at the store in any increment you’d like. At this time they are not redeemable online.

How does your weekly menu work?

We post our weekly menu on Facebook and Instagram.

We have a standard menu that we make every week which can be seen on our online menu. This includes:

  • 8 types of cookies
  • Cinnamon Swirl Scones
  • Both types of Baby Bundts
  • Chocolate and Vanilla Cupcakes in both regular and dairy-free
  • Brownies
  • Gooey Butter Cake Slices
  • Donuts (Fresh on Fridays and Saturdays)
  • Individual Cinnamon Rolls (Fresh on Fridays and Saturdays)

Weekly specials include:

  • 2-3 cookies that will be there for the week
  • Scone of the Week
  • Cake by the Slice (Saturday only)
  • A few specialty items that will appear for that week only

Our Cheesecake Bars and Bread Pudding Bars rotate flavors daily.

As of now the weekly specials cannot be ordered online, but can be ordered by calling us at 314-858-1117.

Do you deliver?

Unfortunately, we do not have a delivery system at this time.

We do not participate in the delivery service apps because they do not use enough caution with allergens and it is impossible for us to maintain an instant inventory with them (so they sell you items that don’t actually exist!).

Do you ship?

We are so flattered that people want our baked goods from near and far, but we do not ship at this time.

Customized Orders

Do you make custom decorated orders?

We make custom decorated cakes! Our cakes are 100% buttercream. We are happy to include additional items on the cake that you purchase and bring to us (figurines, flowers, custom cake toppers, etc.) Check out our build your own cakes here. If that won’t do it, email us at orders@brittsbakehouse.com.

We also make customized cookie cakes.

We do not make custom decorated cut out sugar cookies and we will only customize the color of the sprinkles for cupcakes (but we have soooooo many sprinkles!!).

We do not make custom cake pops, nor do we customize our cake truffles.

Do you make Birthday Cakes?

Boy, do we ever!
Most birthday cake needs can be met by building your own cake here.

All of our cakes are 100% buttercream. We are happy to include additional items on the cake that you purchase and bring to us (figurines, flowers, custom cake toppers, etc.). If the build-your-own-cake doesn’t cover what you need, email us at orders@brittsbakehouse.com.

Do you make Wedding Cakes?

We love making wedding cakes. You can see a small gallery here. You can email orders@brittsbakehouse.com for more information.

Please include the wedding date, the names of the couple, and any additional information you’ve already decided about the cake in your email.

Do you make Smash Cakes?

The smallest cake we make is a single layer 6”.

Most people opt for a traditional two-layer, single tier cake as a “centerpiece” cake and an individual cupcake for the one-year-old star of the show!

You can order cakes here.

Can recipes be customized for specific allergies?

Unfortunately, we cannot customize recipes. The recipe will contain the ingredients as listed on the online menu.

Reheating & Storage

Cinnamon Rolls & Sweet Rolls

All cinnamon rolls and sweet rolls are sold frozen to ensure maximum freshness.

Ideally, defrost overnight in the refrigerator.

Trays: Bake in the silver tray for 30-45 minutes at 350 F.
Placing the silver tray on a lined sheet pan can help catch any of the filling that bubbles over.

Individual rolls: Bake in brown mold for 15-20 minutes at 350 F.
Placing the brown mold on a lined sheet pan can help catch any of the filling that bubbles over.

Some people have found that the rolls are still quite cold/frozen after defrosting in the refrigerator. You can:

  • Add an additional 10-15 minutes to the bake time or
  • Defrost on the counter overnight (please do not do this if your house is very warm or if you will be leaving it out over 8 hours) or
  • Take out of the refrigerator about 1.5 hours prior to cooking

To test if the rolls are done: push on the edge the roll sitting in the middle of the tray. It should not sink, it should bounce back and have some spring to it.

We recommend putting the glaze on the roll while it is still warm.

Dinner Rolls

Rolls are best when reheated in a microwave or oven, but can also be enjoyed at room temperature. We recommend cutting the rolls apart before freezing them for easier defrosting.

Rolls can be defrosted by wrapping them in a damp paper towel and reheating in 15-20 second bursts.

Loaves

Our white free form bread has hints of sourdough flavor. It can be enjoyed at room temperature or rewarmed in the microwave or oven.

To defrost, thaw in the fridge overnight for a whole loaf, or microwave while wrapped in a damp paper towel in 15-20 second bursts.

Can be sliced while frozen, use a very sharp serrated knife and keep your fingers out of the way!

Frozen Donuts

Donuts can be defrosted on the counter (the best way to preserve the frosting) or in short 5-10 second bursts in the microwave.

Remove the wrapper before defrosting so it doesn’t stick to the donut!

Storing baked goods

Air-tight is the name of the game! If you will not be finishing your baked goods the same day you purchase them, we recommend storing them in airtight containers.

That includes:

  • Thoroughly wrapping the packaging provided by Britt’s Bakehouse with cling wrap
  • Tupperware-style containers with as little excess room as possible
  • Zip-top bags with as much air squeezed out as possible
  • Any airtight container that snugly fits the baked goods

Refrigeration can often dry out the baked goods, particularly if they are not wrapped well. Baked goods keep well for a day or two at room temperature, otherwise we recommend freezing.

Baked goods can be defrosted overnight in the refrigerator or at room temperature.

Freezing soft items (buttercream, cheesecake, etc.)

Flash freezing is the best way to maintain the appearance of soft or squishy baked goods.

Pop the unwrapped baked goods in the freezer until they are firm to the touch (usually 15-20 minutes, but it could take longer for a large item or a warmer freezer).

Once the item is firm to the touch it can then be tightly wrapped up. Remove the wrapping before defrosting so it doesn’t stick to the wrapping.

Allergies & Intolerances

How do you handle food allergies?

We are a 100% dedicated gluten-free and wheat-free facility that is safe for those with Celiac.

All of our products are made with as much effort as possible to avoid cross-contact (cross-contamination), however we do use dairy, eggs, oats, soy, tree nuts, and corn in the facility.

Ingredients for each item are listed under the description of the item on the online menu.

Gluten/Wheat

All products at Britt’s Bakehouse are completely gluten-free, wheat-free, and celiac-safe.

Dairy

We make products that do not contain dairy ingredients, but we do use dairy in our facility.

Dairy refers to mammal milk-containing products. The term “dairy” does NOT include eggs.

Eggs

We make products that do not contain eggs, but we do use eggs in our facility.

If something is labeled “Dairy-Free” it may CONTAIN EGGS. Only items labeled “Egg-Free” do not contain eggs.

Oats

All products at Britt’s Bakehouse are 100% gluten-free, including our products made with oats and oat flour.

However, we know many people either cross-react or prefer to avoid oats. We make products that do not contain oat ingredients, but we do use oats in our facility.

Corn

The vast majority of our products contain at least a small amount of corn. (Baking powder and powdered sugar both contain corn.)

Tree Nuts

We make products without any tree nut ingredients with as much effort as possible to avoid cross-contamination, however we do use tree nuts in the facility.

We do not label coconut as a tree nut. We do not use coconut flour in the facility. If coconut is an ingredient it will be clearly listed on the online menu.

We do not use peanuts or peanut products in our facility, however some of our ingredient manufacturers cannot guarantee that their products are made in a dedicated peanut-free facility. (We know peanuts are not tree-nuts!)

Peanuts

We do not use peanuts or peanut products in our facility, however some of our ingredient manufacturers cannot guarantee that their products are made in a dedicated peanut-free facility (such as sprinkles).

Soy

We make products that do not contain soy, but we do use soy in our facility.

Our baking spray and sprinkles contains soy lecithin.

Items that contain soy ingredients will be labeled “Contains Soy.” Items that are otherwise soy-free will be labeled “Contains Soy Lecithin” if it is the only soy ingredient.

Vegan

Our only vegan product (free of all animal products) is our Freeform Bread Loaf.
